The Department of Psychology at the University of South Carolina (USC) is excited to request applications for a “Bridge to Faculty” postdoctoral fellow with a research focus in neuroscience and/or health equity. The goal of the USC Bridge to Faculty program is to attract, support, and retain scholars from groups historically underrepresented in their departments or fields.
We welcome applications from outstanding scholars who contribute to increasing diversity in the field of psychology, either as researchers from historically underrepresented groups and/or through scholarship that contributes to our understanding of issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion, past or present. The successful candidate should aspire to become an independent researcher and productive faculty member at an R1-level university and must be committed to teaching and mentoring diverse students at the graduate and undergraduate level.
The Bridge to Faculty fellow will work closely with 1-2 primary research mentors in the Department of Psychology to accelerate transdisciplinary efforts in basic, clinical, and/or intervention research in neuroscience and/or health equity. The candidate will also be part of a larger cohort of other Bridge to Faculty Fellows (12 planned hires for 2023-2024) who will receive mentoring and support from USC’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, including professional development; training in research, pedagogy, and strategic engagement; mentorship from senior professors and university administrators; networking and connection-building with university administration; and opportunities to engage and practice as an active member of the USC community.
